News releases, 1956-1985, (bulk 1956-1985)

This series includes news releases pertaining to most aspects of Clemson with the exception of the University's Athletic Department and College of Agriculture Public Service programs. As such, information about the activities of students, staff, faculty, alumni and the Board of Trustees can be found in the news releases. They serve as an excellent source for information about newsworthy activities at Clemson from the viewpoint of the University. Frequent topics covered are awards to students, faculty and other Clemson individuals; donations to the University; new programs, research findings and campus events; and construction on campus. The seasonal events related to the academic calendar such as registration, breaks, exams and graduation are covered, as are the meetings of the Board of Trustees. There are a number of specialized releases such as "Books for Children" and "History Book Review" that were created by specific departments during the 1980s and distributed by News Services. The photographs are a variety of images related to news releases published between 1958-1959. News releases from 1986-1992 can be found in Series 46, News Services Publications.
